Four Names Appear On The First Injury Report Of The 2017 Season For Detroit.

Week one injuries can be a tale of two things. One, a player got hurt during the final preseason game or while in practice during game week. Or two, the injury they have has been publicly noted and well documented. For Lions fans, we’ve seen two names appear on this week’s injury report that haven’t come as a shock, but there are two names that have us scratching our heads going “when did they get hurt?” Check out the latest injury report below.

Zach Zenner Back Practicing Fully

One of the two names that surprised the Lions fan base is running back Zach Zenner as he appeared on the injury report on Wednesday, being limited in practice with a back injury. On Thursday, he was a full participant in practice, which is good to see. Expect Zenner to be ready to go on Sunday.

Kenny Golladay Limited With Ankle Injury

Something Lions fans don’t want to hear is that a rookie is injured. Rookie wide receiver Kenny Golladay has been limited in practice for Detroit on Wednesday and Thursday with an ankle injury. Golladay didn’t play the final preseason game for Detroit, so we don’t know when the injury occurred. Golladay is a toss up on if he will play this Sunday, but considering he has been healthy for every preseason game, I expect him to be on the field.

Ziggy Ansah and Corey Robinson Limited In Return To Practices

Both Ziggy Ansah and Corey Robinson came off the PUP list last Saturday while the team was making their 53 man roster. Ansah has been seen doing limited things in practice before the last two preseason games, running on the sideline with the team. Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported that Jim Caldwell may hold Ansah to limited snaps come Sunday, so while Ansah will return, don’t expect him to be on the field every down as he is dealing with a knee injury.

Corey Robinson had surgery on his foot late in the season in 2016. There hasn’t been any word on what the injury is and why it did require surgery, but Robinson has returned to practice this week. While he has been limited in practice, expect him to miss this game as Brian Mihalik can take over the backup tackle role.

Arizona Cardinals Injury Report

The Arizona Cardinals are dealing with some banged up players. To start off, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and quarterback Carson Palmer returned to practice on Thursday, after missing practice on Wednesday that wasn’t injury related. Guard Mike Iupati was limited on Wednesday and Thursday with a tricep injury. Defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche returned to practice on Thursday, after missing practice on Wednesday.

The team reported on August 23rd that Nkemdiche would miss two to three weeks, so he could return this Sunday against the Lions, or wait until next week to return. Finally, linebacker Deone Bucannon has missed practice this week with an ankle injury, expect him to either be a game-time decision or out as Friday is the last day of practice, and with two days of missing practice, things aren’t looking good for him.
