Top 20 Impact Players For The Lions In 2018 – #19

In this series I’ll be going over who I think will be the top 20 impact players for the Lions in 2018, next up is Jamal Agnew.

2017 was a fantastic season for Agnew, he was a very versatile player on the Lions roster and if there is one thing Matt Patricia likes in his players it’s versatility. As a returner Agnew was one of the most explosive in the NFL earning his All-Pro honors, something not many people would have predicted going into the season. He was also used on offense as a speed back option as well as lining up on defense in his roster position of cornerback.

One thing that is for certain is that Agnew will once again be the teams primary return man, giving him the chance to change games on his own, hence the ranking. Special teams are overlooked by a lot of people but they are a vital aspect of the game and having someone as good as Agnew on your side is a huge boost for the Lions. The value he has already added compared to where he was taken in the draft has already made him a valuable asset to the team.

His work when it comes to the defensive side of the ball will need some work. Re-signing Nevin Lawson and bringing in DeShawn Shead and Tracy Walker means the cornerback slot is something Agnew isn’t going to see much of this season. The depth at the position might mean the job is slightly out of his reach for now. However his cameo appearances on offense will add another dynamic to an already explosive offence.

List so far:
