Detroit Lions Week 3 Injury Report

The Big Question On Everyone’s Mind Is Whether Cornerback Darius Slay Will Be Ready To Face New England.

The Detroit Lions square off with the New England Patriots under the lights at Ford Field for this week’s Sunday Night Football matchup. The list of injuries has grown each week, but it looks like the Lions may have gotten off a bit lighter than expected.

Detroit Lions vs New England Patriots

Cornerback Darius Slay suffered a concussion last week in the loss to the 49ers. However, he was able to talk to the media and get a light practice in on Friday. That’s an encouraging sign that he is clearing hurdles in the concussion protocol and may be available this week. Nothing is certain, but today’s progress was important for him to have a shot. He is officially listed as QUESTIONABLE. It would be a major blow to the secondary if Slay can’t be out there to help defend Tom Brady and the potent New England passing game.

Receiver Marvin Jones was a late add to the report, only showing up Friday with an ankle injury. It’s concerning when a player is injured during a practice late in the week. It’s hard to gauge how serious this one is. He’s listed as QUESTIONABLE. Tight end Michael Roberts was another late add on Friday with a knee injury. He’s QUESTIONABLE as well.

It looks like guard T.J. Lang will be back in uniform Sunday. After missing last week’s game with a back issue, he was able to get in a 3-day practice week and seems to be ready. QUESTIONABLE, but expected. All the same things can be said for defensive end Ziggy Ansah (shoulder). Getting him back is a boost to the pass rush as well as the Detroit Lions porous run defense.

Corner Jamal Agnew (shoulder) and linebacker Eli Harold (hip) both had a light week of practice and seem like they’ll suit up to face the Pats.

Reserve lineman Andrew Donnal rounds out the list with the knee injury that sidelined him previously. He is still listed as OUT.

Left tackle Taylor Decker missed practice Friday, however, it wasn’t injury related and he has no designation for the game.
