The Detroit Lions schedule benefits the team since they play tougher opponents like the Patriots, Seahawks, Rams, at home this season. Especially the latter two as they could both have playoff implications. The Rams match-up is especially interesting considering the Lions had the chance to draft Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, back when Detroit still had Ndamukong Suh on their team. The Rams signed Suh to a one-year contract this off-season. While Suh and Donald will not be playing for their team, Lions fans will get to see what a defense starring both players would have looked like.

The Lions will also benefit from playing some less talented opponents on the road like the Dolphins, Cardinals, Bills, and 49ers. The Lions certainly have a tough season ahead on paper, but ultimately it will be a good test for new head coach Matt Patricia. If he can steer the ship in the right direction and get the Lions a playoff win with this schedule, it would be a great sign of things to come in Detroit.
