In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris, Case, and Jeff discuss potentially heartbreaking injury to fan favorite, sophomore, Taylor Decker. Jeff discusses the likely “timetable” for recovery while Case suggests we just don’t know enough to be making accurate predictions yet. We talk through potential replacement left tackles still available on the market, although everyone agrees it is more likely the Lions will attempt to address the issue in-house. Continuing on the topic of free agents, we talk about some recent big names who have been released, specifically Jeremy Maclin and Eric Decker, what they could bring to the Lions, and whether or not it’s wise for the team to be looking at veterans at this point.
Moving on, we all weigh in on the confusing situation regarding the truth behind Ameer Abdullah’s injury and whether or not we have good cause for concern going forward. It’s not the only topic in the backfield either, as the signing of Matt Asiata, the release of Michael Burton, and the future direction of the team in that area all get some attention.
The top 100 players countdown, and Stafford’s place on it, gets a mention, although a begrudging one from Case, who explains his distaste for that particular player ranking. Stafford’s potential extension, and the possible details it might entail, are gone over. If you’d like to read more on the topic, check out this article.
We briefly touch on Alex Carter’s move to safety, Jeff gives a personal perspective on the effects of living with a heart condition, like the one Nick Fairley is facing, and Case tells us why he doesn’t hate Kenny Golladay, but thinks we should hold off getting too excited until we see him against legitimate opposition. We finish things off with a short trip ‘Around the Division’, and call it a wrap.
