Ep: 131 – Lions Hurt By the Vikings – The Detroit Lions Podcast

[powerpress]

Here comes another great episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, this one in the wake of a heartbreaking Thanksgiving Day loss at Ford Field. The Lions are coming off of a loss that threatens to put their entire season at risk. Chris and Case spend this episode speaking directly to you without any guests joining us. We felt it was necessary to have a good long talk about the team and some of the conversations surrounding it.  We also break down the latest and greatest in Lions and Reddit news.

Things kick off with a good discussion about the painful division loss to the Minnesota Vikings. We decided to start the conversation with your calls and reactions to the games. Some called right away, others needed a few days to process the situation.  Great calls, and we react and weigh in while discussing the results from Thanksgiving Day.  We also bring back a fan favorite, #SwitchToTheRadio, and have the call of the game in which Dan Miller and Jim Brandstatter encapsulate everything about this game in a single play call. Remember, if you are in range of WJR or an internet stream of WJR, turn down the bozos on the picture box and tune in to hear Dan and Jim call the games for you, you’ll be damn happy you did.

We talk about a new contest for our listeners called, #StaffordSoTough. Get on twitter and come up with a tweet that shows just how tough Matthew Stafford is and tweet it out with the #StaffordSoTough hashtag. We’ll pick our favorite and award the winner with a Detroit Lions cap.  Chris recycled some old Chuck Norris jokes, show us how much more creative you are and take home the big prize!

We talk about the Lions most recent signings and roster moves (including a potential pickup to keep your eyes on), give big props to Marvin Jones (which Case tries to steal for himself), and do a deep dive on the Lions running game. We also discuss a great tweet from Dan Orlovsky in which he discusses just how well Matthew Stafford is performing in a terrible situation compared to others (such as Dak Prescott) when faced with similar circumstances.

Its time. We have the long talk about Caldwell and the heat under his seat as head coach. The Detroit Lions Podcast makes a great case for why he should be looking over his shoulder for Martha Ford with her “You’re Fired” Nerf gun, and then completely destroy the argument with the question, “but with who”? It’s a great discussion that’s well worth your listen.

Lastly, Case takes us on his “Around The Division” segment of worldwide fame and discusses the current state of the NFC North.
