Ep: 284 – Green Bay Packers Preview – The Detroit Lions Podcast

In this live episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris is joined by Jeff Risdon and a slightly late Tony Ortiz – Check that, Tony is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to. Dean Blandino is here with his insight on exactly what’s going on with Clete Blakeman too – this is huge news for Lions fans.

Dean Blandino Talks Clete Blakeman, the NFL And More

We get Dean Blandino on the phone again to discuss what in the heck the NFL was thinking by putting “controversial” referee, Clete Blakeman, on the Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers game. This is a no win situation for the NFL or the crew – and historically, the Lions. Dean talks through how they typically handle such things, why things might be different this time, and goes into a number of other topics. As always, love him or hate him, Dean Blandino brings great insight to the show and what the NFL is doing.

Detroit Lions Podcast Green Bay Preview

After last Sunday’s game, listening to fans all week, and thinking the city was burning down, no one was feeling particularly great about facing the Green Bay Packers in week two. A perennial playoff contender with their second Hall of Fame quarterback in a row is never a fun place to go as a visiting team. Looking from a distance, this is a blowout win for the Packers, but we dive in a little deeper and see something a little different. We start with this week’s Lions and Green Bay Packers Injury Report.

The Detroit Lions and Green Back Packers have a long history, but recently, the Lions have been really close, and had the Packers number. As a matter of fact, they’ve beat the Packers twice since they’ve beaten Chicago. This is a much better match-up than many would expect, and if both team show up in Lambeau it should be a highly contested game. Jeff Risdon and Tony Ortiz make their predictions, while Chris plays Case’s normal road and rides the fence a little bit.

Help Us Raise Money For St. Jude

We discuss our plans around our upcoming (2nd annual) fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital – we raised almost $7,500 last time, this time our goal is much, much higher. We’ve got a plan to make it happen, and will be bringing out the big guns. Let’s help make it a great “Christmas For The Kids”, together, starting on November 6.  More details will be forthcoming as we get closer.
