Speaker 4: Hey, everyone. Jeff Brisson here with your daily DLP. It is Friday, May 15. We are the day after the NFL schedule release, so you know what that means. Yeah. Schedule game time. Look. It's a terrible media cliche. Hated doing this when I was on the radio. I wound up being on the radio a lot on this day. I'm actually not today, which is, kinda nice. But this is something, and my my good friend, Jim Costa, who I used to do shows with, here when he was here here in Grand Rapids, he's now on ninety seven one, the ticket on the morning show. This is, like, his favorite thing to do. And, I know people expect it, so we're gonna do it. Bring up the schedule here. There is the lion's schedule. We've talked about it yesterday. If you haven't checked out my reaction video to it, please do. I both wrote things and said things. You can find the written content here at The Daily or the the the video content at The Daily DLP, and the written content is on the Detroit Lions podcast website, where we will have a lot more written content coming, in the coming months as we get ready for the season. Deep into the off season now. Let's go through game by game. Lions gonna win. Lions gonna lose. Let's go. First week, Saints at home. That's w. I do think the Saints are dangerous, but I think that the Lions are gonna come out and treat the home fans to something special, in the first week. Week two at Buffalo, talked about that last night in the in the the schedule recap, Joe. I think that's the least this is the least winnable game on the schedule. And, again, it's not, like Lions could go ahead and win that game, but it just feels like that's gonna be a game where Buffalo's gonna open their new stadium with a win on Thursday night. Draw the New York Jets next week three. That's a w. Sorry, Aaron Glenn. Your team isn't there yet. Carolina week four. It was a tough one. Effectively a coin flipper, And it came up tails, which means that the lions lose this one. So first four weeks, they're two and two. Not exactly the roaring start that you want, but okay. Haven't haven't screwed the pooch just yet. Week five at Arizona w. Drew Petzen gets to avenge against his former team. I I I frankly don't know what to make of the Cardinals. I don't think that they're very good. I think they're saddled in a a division that's much more difficult than they are. I I don't I don't see an identity there yet, but, you know, you gotta you gotta play every game. The Lions, by the way, have taken good care of the Cardinals over the years as well. Worse Lions teams than this one on paper have taken care of better Arizona teams on paper than this one, and I'm gonna I'm gonna roll with that too. Week six, the buy. Insert your not funny joke about not winning or losing on the buy. Like, stop. Nobody likes that. It's not funny. It's just not. So three and two into the buy week. Come out, and we get into the mid of the division schedule, the Green Bay Packers, week seven, in in board field. I like the lines on that one. That's gonna be a tone setter. Yeah. Open up the division right. Vikings a week later, that's another w. That is again, both of these games could go could could go to the loss column. But if the lions are healthy, healthier than they've been at that point in the season in either of the last two years, I like the lions there, win both of those games. They take from the five and two, trip to Miami.

Speaker 4: Said last night that that's probably the most winnable game on the schedule, certainly of the road games. I'm gonna go with that. I do worry a little bit. You know, it it's sandwiched between, you know, a couple of of divisional matchups that that figure to be, you know, intense, and then you're going to Germany the following week. I I think I think Dan Campbell's focus will will prevail here against what might be I don't know if the Jets or the the Dolphins are gonna be worse this year. You know, the the Dolphins at least have some, but both of them do, honestly. You can't overlook any opponent. You really can't in this NFL, but, I I like that one. New England in Germany. Lance haven't played overseas in a long time. I think they get it done. Not gonna be an easy one, though. The patriots I do think that the patriots are a a decent candidate to regress. I don't think they're making the Super Bowl again. I just don't. Nothing against their team and their talent, but they've had a weird off season with the whole Rabil stuff. And I don't know. I think I I do feel like the Lions match up well with them, specifically our offense against their defense. We'll see. I got a w there. Come home and eat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bet this wasn't a loss because the lions are coming back from Europe. The Buccaneers are coming off of a buy, and I do think that the NFC South is gonna be such I think that division is gonna be a lot in this in 2026 the way that North was in 2025, where I think all four of the teams, there's very little separation between them. I I think all four of those teams have realistic chances and and paths to winning that division. So I think that they're gonna play intense in there. I think they're gonna come away with the win on that one. In Ford Field, ain't saying that way, but it is also a bit of a sandwich game. It's between the the international game and then Thanksgiving game against the bears, and I've got the lions beating the bears in that one. Nothing against the Bears. I I think they're a talented team, but I think that that we are competing, in fact, for the division this year. Can't rely Green Bay there either, of course, but feel like the lions are gonna really focus on getting that one done. And that is a game where the home crowd can certainly help. Fire up the team, get things get things moving for the lions there. So that takes them through Thanksgiving with just three losses. Getting into the home stretch here where the schedule does perk up differently in that final, you know, six game stretch there. But eight and three going into that, I think we'll all take that. And I again, I think it's very realistic that it could be that way. Now it might not be the exact sequence here, but I you know, eight and three, seven and four, I think as long as you're not worse than seven and four, we're we're still definitely in competition for the NFC North and playoff seeding at this point, and I do think the flies are gonna be there. Atlanta. In Atlanta. Coin flipper for me. I I do think that the Lions' defense actually matches up well against their offense, and, Lord, strike me down if that winds up being an injury problem later. But I get the Lions winning that one. And then the letdown game. At home, the titans. I think the titans are improved quite a bit. I still don't think they're that good. I don't think they're gonna win more than six, maybe seven games, but I do think this is gonna be one of them. It seems like every year, there's a game where the lions just you know? They're the better team, but they don't play like it. And I hope they're beyond that, but I'm not gonna say that they are until I see it. So this this is a loss. So your final four games, you're going in. Probably gonna have to win three of them. Mission accomplished.

Speaker 4: At Minnesota, I'm on record on this one. I think the Minnesota Vikings might be the least improved or most unimproved team in football. I I think they got demonstrably worse with the the I can't stress enough how much that that draft trade of losing their best pass rusher for effectively nothing. That's a that's a rough deal, man. The fact that they have so many question marks. Now if those questions get answered right, they're gonna be competitive. They're too well coached. I I like Kevin O'Connell as a head coach. I think he's a good head coach. I really do. But I worry about that team and where they're at with their quarterback situation. I think their offensive line has peaked. I think their defensive scheme under Brian Flores has peaked and is somewhat predictable. So I got the Lions winning that one. The giants. I worry about the giants. I'll be straight. Much like Tennessee, this is a game where the lions are the better team. And even if they're battling some injuries, I think they're gonna be the better team still. But I don't think the Giants, under a new coaching regime with the young talent and the way that they're constructed, they're not gonna be an easy w, but I got them as a w. At Chicago. Got a loss there. Gonna be a tough one. Bears are a good team. That's, that's one that I would love to pick a win, but, I'd I'd I'd the outdoors, the fans. Yeah. Got a loss there. Then closing at Green Bay. Now I did go through Green Bay's schedule and Chicago's schedule. Going into week eight week the last game, week seven week 18. 17 games, eighteen weeks. Everybody gets a buy. I have Green Bay, Detroit, and Chicago all, yes, all at eleven and five. All three of them have the Vikings there at six 10. The lions beat the Packers in Green Bay. We've done it before. We'll do it again. Twelve and five finish for Detroit. And you gotta root for Minnesota to beat Chicago. I just don't know if that's gonna happen. Bring up what I've got for the final in written form. Use your magnifying glasses for those of you, who are watching on YouTube. Twelve and five record, tying for the division title, going to the postseason. Not gonna pick postseason games yet, but I will be I will be favoring the lions to win at least one playoff game, if not multiple playoff games this year. Again, provided better health conditions than what they've had in the last couple of seasons. I can't imagine that getting worse. That's where I'm at. That's the schedule game. You like it? If you don't like it, you think they're gonna go sixteen and one? You think they're gonna go five and twelve and everybody gets fired? I don't see either of those scenarios. I do think that probably the bottom out for this team, and that would be if Pene Sewell, Jared Goff, Jameer Gibbs, Aidan Hutchinson, Jack Campbell all get hurt, season ending injuries. Like, that could make them seven and ten, six and eleven. God willing none of that happens. Figures is a it's solid, solid playoff team, and we'll see how it plays out. Anyways, twelve and five, that's my prediction for now. Subject to change. Things do change. I will be doing at Real GM. I'll I'll have some more, like, broader NFL stuff where I'll pick divisions and stuff like that. That'll come later in the summer. Now is the weekend after Mother's Day. We're not there yet.
