Royce Freeman: 2018 NFL Draft Profile

Overall

Royce Freeman has some very interesting tools for the next level. He is a big bodied back that shows unique agility traits for someone his size. His pre-second-level traits are very good and should help him be a reliable piece of a committee. He has good vision, good burst, a good feel for his blocking and the ability to get through tight spaces at the line of scrimmage.

He needs to get more aggressive as a runner. His finesse style of running doesn’t suit him and is a gross misuse of the positive traits he has at his disposal. He needs to learn to attack the defense more aggressively, show stronger and more consistent leg drive, and finish runs as the aggressor rather than just giving himself up for contact.

I think that Freeman can be successful if he learns to adjust his running style and carry the ball with more purpose. For now, his line of scrimmage traits should set a decent floor for him as a solid mid to late round pick.
