In this series I’ll be going over who I think will be the top 20 impact players for the Lions in 2018, next up is Frank Ragnow.

The final piece of the offensive line puzzle has been put into place. For the whole of last season there was always one member of the offensive line that when the five of them lined up you knew was the weak link. Travis Swanson was the main culprit for this last year and having the centre as the weak link is an uphill battle to overcome. The offensive line is usually only as good as their worst piece as that’s what the defense can exploit.

In steps Frank Ragnow. One of the top-rated lineman coming out of college (he was ranked 1st in a lot of major of categories) he will be exactly what the Lions need to step up their offensive play a level. He may not even play center, he could line up as a guard but his brutish style of play is exactly what has been missing from the offensive line. Ragnow goes out of his way to bully players and his goal on every snap is to throw the guy across from him into the dirt. The Lions needed some players with a mean streak and that’s exactly what they will get with Ragnow.

The reason he is 15 on the list is, although he will be an integral piece on one of the most important units in the team, as an individual there are other players who can make more of an impact than he can. Getting the run game going will be what this team needs to take the that step to getting to the next level and Ragnow will be a main contributor to that.

List so far:

Rick Wagner – #20

Jamal Agnew – #19

Kerry Hyder – #18

Da’Shawn Hand – #17

Taylor Decker – #16
