Top 20 Impact Players For The Lions In 2018 – #16 – Taylor Decker

In this series I’ll be going over who I think will be the top 20 impact players for the Lions in 2018

Some people might think Decker should/would be higher but with the team developing how it is I think the line unit as a whole rather than the individuals specifically will be the main impactors. That being said, each player will have an impact when it comes to the overall play and development of the offensive line. Keeping Matthew Stafford upright is the key to this team winning and Decker is the man protecting his more vulnerable side. In my eyes, this makes him one of the most impactful players along the offensive line. Decker plays one of the most important positions in the NFL so has to feature on the list.

I can’t see Decker not having a good if not dominant season ahead of him after his injury troubles of last season are hopefully behind him. Coming into an offensive line two seasons ago that needed help he made the left tackle role his own. Greg Robinson coming in and showing what a left tackle without Taylor Decker’s talent would look like shows how important he is to the team. He has everything a premier left tackle needs to have in the NFL and with a good unit beside him he can flourish in 2018.

Many sources rank Taylor Decker in and around the top 15 left tackles in the league. I think with two seasons learning the NFL game speed under his belt (even though he has only played one and a half) he can move up into the conversation of top 10, maybe even top five in the league.

List so far:

Rick Wagner – #20

Jamal Agnew – #19

Kerry Hyder – #18

Da’Shawn Hand – #17
