Speaker 3: Hey, everyone. Jefferson here with your daily DLP. It is Thursday, June 25. It is 05:51AM. I just woke up recently and saw all the news news that broke last night after I had gone to bed. Not the way I want to wake up. And I figured we'd probably need to talk about it. If you haven't seen it yet, I'm sure you have because it actually was made made the BBC's newscast this morning. It's in, internationally. It's probably, quite big back home. Again, I'm in Orlando this week. It made news down here. In fact, it's on the the I got the local news on over here, and, they just showed a thing on it a couple minutes ago. It's he's from the Tampa area, and the incident that happened is in Tampa. This is from the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office. The state attorney will file charges against Detroit Lions player, Terryon Arnold, following his arrest in connection with a February robbery and kidnapping in Tampa. Arnold is facing multiple felony charges which carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison. It's the first slide from the Hillsborough State Attorney's Office. And we also have a long chat now. From this, continuing from the same, tweet thread from the Hillsborough Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office, our office will file a pretrial detention motion to argue that Arnold remained behind bars until trial. The date for that hearing has not yet been scheduled. Arnold's codefendants are all currently behind bars in connection with the crime. Arnold surrendered to authorities at Orient Road Jail tonight. He is settled scheduled set to make a first appearance in Hillsborough County Court tomorrow afternoon. And there's the mugshot. That's not something you wanna see as a Lions fan. Dean, that's bad news, gal. That's being held without bail. Yeah. He's he's in a lot of trouble. So when this first started happening back in February, the whole incident and it's it's a complicated one. There's there's a lot of news threads that are going on about it. I don't really wanna get into a lot of those here other than it it stems from an incident where he and some other people were getting trying to allegedly get back at some people who did some damage to an Airbnb. Now it wound up that they might not be the same people that that were involved as victims in this case. It's bad. This is something where even if he winds up getting cleared, if the charges get pled down as they did with with Kent Sutton, former Lions quarterback who was in a, actually, the same jurisdiction, same prosecutor's office a couple years ago. You might remember, he was original originally charged with a felony. It later got pled down to a misdemeanor, and the NFL still suspended him for eight games. That's nothing compared to what's going on here. This is looks like multiple felony counts. There are a lot of corroborating witnesses. The the the entire details got laid out. If you wanna see it, then I'll I'll actually pull up where I got that from. But it's it's unfortunate that all this is happening for the guy that the lions were gonna be depending on a lot. And, the, the Arima Murav con account is for me to say my coffee has not kicked in yet, y'all. I'm sorry. That's, they have, proof that Arnold gave directions throughout the group chat while the attack was happening. Among other things, that's from a football standpoint. It's hard to focus on that, admittedly. I wouldn't expect Darian Arnold Even if the lions go full defense and stand up for their guy and, you know, we've got his back and everything, he's gonna get suspended for a significant amount of time if he's even cleared, which, again, we don't know what's gonna happen with that. But my guess is at this early juncture, and I'm sure the lines were at least a statement once the sun comes up later today, and they have the hearing the preliminary hearing that the the prosecuting attorney will will lay things out, and that's probably when you will hear something from the Lions beyond the the general generic. We are aware of charges against Darren Arnold, and we have nothing further to say until more developments have, like that's gonna happen if they haven't done it already. Actually, I haven't even booked. It's chaos. Again, that's the sort of thing you wanna wake up to. Let's say Tarion is found guilty. Obviously, done. No question about it. Will the lions do what they did with Cam Sutton two years ago when the charges came out and they said no to her and flushed him? They they absolutely could. It's within their rights to do that. Getting charged with a felony voids a lot of the contractual guarantees that are in his contract. So it's not necessarily all that punitive financially to do it. He's still on his rookie contract. But, man, that's a hole. Now I know a lot of y'all don't like tearing down as a player. You get that. Didn't have has not lived up to being a first round pick through his first seasons. Total, totally fair criticism there. But I'm not sure they have anybody better. And he was playing When he talked to us last week at the end of mini camp, he was right, you know, that, he was playing his best football before he got hurt injured last year. Thankfully, DJ Reed looks good this this spring and summer. Hopefully, that persists, but now you're looking at someone like Rockettes soon stepping into a starting role. You know, this is an opportunity for guys like Nick Whiteside, Keith Abney, Ennis Rake Straw, Arnold's draft They do have some options, but none of them are as high end as what Terrain would be if Terrain were right and were, in fact, making the the leap that some of us were hoping he would. It appears that that's, that's inconsequential at this point. You know, back when this first broke, it was one of those things that, like, yeah. You you need to pay attention to it. You need to keep an eye on it. But until what happened last night happened, there's nothing really that the lions can do about it. You know, you can't plan for your starting quarterback to get charged with multiple felonies. You just can't. And you hope that your pre draft evaluation of character assessment.

Speaker 3: It's fine. From what it sounds like, this is this is like mafioso stuff. Like, this is what happens when people disappear and either by John, just to throw an example out there. Like, this is this is not your run of the mill crime, and that's, that's gonna be very difficult for the lions to reconcile, I would suspect. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Terryon's not a Detroit Lion by the end of the day. Not saying that they should do that. Not saying that they will do that, but it wouldn't surprise me if that happens. And if the evidence that's getting in there I'm sure the Lions have their own legal team, their own investigative team going after this. By the way, I wanna give credit to Dave Burkett. Dave Burkett broke this story. It happened after I went to bed last night, but it looks like he was the first person in the broader media beyond the Hillsborough County, sheriff's office or press whatever whatever they are, to, to get the news out. And that's god damn it, man. Not the way I wanted to wake up. Not the way you want things to play out at all. So from a football standpoint, now the lions are down for week one, at least. Basically, without three of their four starting members, they're secondary from a year ago. And the guys that they've invested a significant amount of time and interest and or capital in in making the secondary great. And the secondary is still not great. I will say it's better, but it would be a lot better if the safeties were healthy and if Terryon were on the team, and that none of that looks like it's gonna happen. You're just looking at again, going back to the Cam Sutton thing, which was a domestic violence, arrest. Eight games from the NFL for that. They they later reduced it once his charges got reduced. But, with all the other people that are involved in this deal, that's gonna be a tougher sell, I think. And I'm not a lawyer, but it doesn't look good. Anyhow, stay tuned. All the outlets on it. I'm sure this is massive news in Detroit. It that it should be. We'll, look and see what happens with, when the the initial hearing comes out later today, apparently, according to the the the Hillsborough office. See what's said there and see what the lines react to that, and then, we will react again off that. But, this is this is not good for this football team. It's not a good look for the football team to have another starting quarterback arrested in Tampa. Now it's just coincidental, but damn, man. So it's not how this football team is supposed to be. This is not this team prides itself on the no charge policy, and this is not looking good for Therion to not be part of that getting flushed away, and that's, that's disappointment. That is from a stand standpoint. You want your team to be better than this. You want your team to do better than this. And, I hope that when things come out that they wind up doing the right thing for not just for the team on the field, but, like, I think one of the things that has happened since Sheila took over as owner and brought in this specific regime, and, I will lump Chris Spielman into that as well, is that they have tried very hard to establish a higher character to avoid very specifically crap like this.
